A Homecoming, coho salmon nestbuilding

Each image begins with a drawing which I transfer to a piece of artist's linoleum (a version of the flooring material). I cut away the white areas with gouges (like small wood chisels but concave) leaving only the areas and lines intended to be black. Materials are linoleum, pencils, paper, and ink. I use sharp gouges (U-profile and V-profile) to cut the lino, then ink it up and run it through my press, or print it by hand using a baren. I draw from my science education and my volunteer experience to accurately illustrate the subject matter that I depict.
